Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a key role in our economy. Companies are increasingly using AI for many aspects of their competitive activities, while at the same time regulators around the world are studying the potential of AI to improve their own enforcement and investigations. As these competition enforcement agencies dig deeper and study AI-related activities in the market and their impact on competition, companies need to make sure that AI is not used as a means of collusion or price discrimination, with limited or no human involvement. As questions multiply, regulatory scrutiny and competition-related risk are also likely to increase.
